In order to enhance the development of teaching Chinese as a second language in Taiwan, National Academy for Educational Research gathers many experts with abundant teaching and research experience of the field to jointly participate in the project of "The Development of Taiwan Chinese Teaching Education ". Taiwan has cultivated in the field for over fifty years and created amazing achievement which is the focus of world attention.
The main goal of the research is to review the progress and bring promising advice up in the near future. To reach the positive goal, they will focus on ten chapters of different facets related to the research including Chinese teaching great events, the past history of Chinese teaching, policy, institution, teacher training, teaching materials, figure, test, international communication and overseas Chinese education to dig into every details of the study.
The chapters of Chinese teaching great events and the past history of Chinese teaching are composed by chronological style, and they mainly focus on big issues that ever dominated or influenced the history of Chinese teaching development. The chapter of policy is devoted to discuss the policies that lead the way of Chinese teaching in Taiwan. The chapters of institution and teacher training dig into the total number of Chinese teaching institutions and the present situation of teaching training in Taiwan. Besides, the chapter of teaching materials and test concentrate on how many Chinese teaching materials we already have and what can we do to enrich the content. Moreover, the chapters of international communication and overseas Chinese education mention about the relation between overseas Chinese education and domestic Chinese teaching. Within the scope, we will discuss some significant international communication. Last but not the least, we will also introduce some respectful fingers known to everybody in the field.
The main purpose of the research has three major contributions as follows. Firstly, it reveals the vital achievement and knowledge of Taiwan Chinese teaching. Secondly, it provides the credible and practical references to the researchers or scholars who are interested in the field. Thirdly, we hope to compile a Taiwan Chinese teaching historical records and let it become the unique and significant asset of Taiwan.
In order to make the research much more reliable and valid, we adopt many research methods, like document analysis and in-depth interview. In this way, we hope to build a credible and valuable research which will be worthy of referring and citing by scholars and anyone involved in the domain. Most of all, we hope to create a completely new brand of Taiwan Chinese teaching and bring it to the whole globe.
