School development has close relationship with school leader. School principals play important roles to enhance school development, curriculum development, teaching revolution, school marketing, learning accountability, and community communication. Their work is complicated and heavy, however, with the coming of society change and development, technology and multiculture society, their work has become more and more challengable.
Many cities and counties authorized NAER to do the principal training. NAER need to design the curriculum and assessment. This three-year project is focused on assessment. The first year is to evaluate the existing assessment tool and provide improvement plans. The second year is to provide the better assessment tool, including the scoring rubric, experiment evulation and adjustment. The third year is to plan and construct the online aseessment system.
It is suggested that different and multiple assessment design can be used in the principal training, including situated performance assessment, combine with the MOOCS curriculum and interactive online assessment. For the on job training principal, assessment should be designed without put too much pressure on the principals. The possible way is group project, checklist evaluatin or classroom observation based on senior principals’rating. However, whether it is workable still needs future investigation.
