As one of the six sub-projects of "A Study on the Upper Secondary Education and the Development of Senior High School Curriculum," the purposes of this study were to investigate the appropriate legal status, the revision principals, organization, members and procedures, the mutual adaption of curriculum related laws, and the approaches, occasions and methods for inspecting the implementation of senior high school curriculum as well as to provide suggestions to governmental branches for curriculum reform in these regards. According to the variety features of this study, multiple research techniques were employed such as documental analysis, focus group interview, in-depth interview, and questionnaire. The participants of questionnaires included high school faculty, college faculty and educational representatives of several overseas offices. Those representatives were asked to collect data on high school curriculum and college entrance examinations of their respective resident country.?
Based on reviews of the mid-term and final report, this study has revised the report accordingly during the two years of study. The suggestions provided in this study including: revising the high school curriculum guideline based on the regulations specified in related laws or revising those regulations based on current curriculum legal status; assigning appropriate legal status for the curriculum guideline to protect students' learning rights; rearranging different parts of the curriculum guideline to their appropriate legal status in order to provide flexibility needed for its operations; recategorizing the principles for the curriculum guideline revision based on aims of high school education and curriculum; specifying by-laws for the curriculum guideline revision procedures and members of the revising organizations and teams to ensure the quality of curriculum revision; adjusting the curriculum revision procedure based on the above mentioned legal status of the curriculum and revision teams; integrating contents stipulated in curriculum related laws into curriculum guideline; enhancing the capacity of the Taiwan Assessment of Student Achievement to evaluate the implementation of high school curriculum guideline; and promoting the evaluation competency of high school faculty to ensure the quality in implementing their curriculum. Further supporting measures in adoption of above mentioned suggestions were also provided.?
