Language is the carrier of indigenous culture, which is the lifeblood of indigenous people. In 2019, 12-Year Compulsory Education will be implemented in Taiwan. In order to understand its effectiveness, an empirical research on the new curriculum guidelines is necessary. This study is to explore the impact of the new curriculum guidelines. Firstly, we will interview indigenous language teachers to understand teachers’’ perspectives and responsive strategy on the new curriculum. Secondly, the research group will design survey questionnaires of indigenous language literacy for indigenous students, based on the “learning expression” and “learning content” in the curriculum guidelines. The results of this study will be able to systematically understand the teaching of indigenous teachers, and develop proper standardized test of indigenous language literacy.
