The new rationales of 12-year Basic Education in Taiwan were implemented via “Core Literacy”. Therefore, this project will investigate “Core Literacy of the Social Studies Curriculum” in curriculum development and supportive resources. This project will examine the existing problems of the Social Studies Curriculum in Taiwan, and look for possible ways to improve. This project will investigate a literacy-oriented mode of teaching materials and methods in the Social Studies Curriculum through collaboration of university professors, teachers and school resources. The research results will be used as a reference for textbooks written, teacher education, and teachers' professional development.
