This study investigates the implementation of issue integration for 12-Year Basic Education Curricula and provides the historical records of issue education in Taiwan. Furthermore, the results are to contribute to examine the implementation of the reformed curriculum. According to General Guideline, there are nineteen educational issues and the researcher will focus on science-related issue, including environmental education, ocean education, technology education, information science education, energy education, safety education, disaster prevention education and outdoor education. This study is a two-year research and data collections include document analysis, interviews transcripts, textbook analysis, focus group, observations, and field trip to school. The research tools, Atlas.ti, will be validated and analyzed the research data. In the first year, the researcher will focus on investigating the contents of educational issues, the curriculum development mechanism, the curriculum guideline integrated with issues and the connections between issue and curriculum guideline. In the second year, the implementation of issue integration of 12-Year Basic Education are investigated (textbook analysis and fieldtrip to school) and based on the findings from the first year. The research findings expect to contribute to curriculum development mechanism in Taiwan and the pilot study for next curriculum reform.
