The paper studied the developing process, typical features of industry and education cooperation of higher vocational education in Taiwan. Its successful experiences provide some valuable suggestions for the improvement of higher vocational education in other under development countries.
The main research methods of this study includes: documentation method, historical research and comparative analysis. Firstly, the study summarizes the domestic and foreign scholars’ success in their industry and education cooperation research of Taiwan. Based on this, this paper further emphasizes the interaction between higher vocational schools and industries in the process of industry and education cooperation. Secondly, the paper analyzes the whole formation and evolution of Taiwan’s industry and education cooperation, mainly from the historical perspective of economic and higher vocational education development. It made a great contribution to meet the needs of economic development and industrial upgrading, but it is facing new challenges in the knowledge economical society. Thirdly, the paper analyzes the basic characteristics of foreign countries’ industry and education cooperation, mainly from four countries including U.S.A, Germany, Japan, and Australia. Fourthly, this study researches on the specific strategies, measures and future development trends of industry and education cooperation in Taiwan, and analyzes several typical industry and education cooperation plans. Finally, the paper summarizes the features of industry and education cooperation in Taiwan.
Learning from foreign successful experience, we put forward some reference suggestions for solving the problems which exist in the process of industry and education cooperation of higher vocational education in Taiwan. The problems include training target, raising the quality of teachers, setting up the organization, improving the evaluation system of industry and education cooperation and so on. It can enhance us to understand the foreign industry and education cooperation of higher vocational education and strengthen mutual communication of higher vocational education.
