Since the 1980s, the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach has become the most popular and widely advocated foreign language teaching approach around the world. The CLT has been introduced in Taiwan since the 1990s, and became the principal part of English curricular design in primary and secondary school. Besides, the textbook is a medium to convert the curriculum guidelines concretely. And evaluating the extent of the English textbook design that is keeping with the CLT principle demonstrates the practical results of level converted curriculum guidelines of textbooks. Thus, on the one hand, the study evaluate Grade 1-9 curriculum English textbook design in junior high school to understand the effects of practical of curriculum guidelines through the “the criteria of English textbooks with CLT”; on the other hand, we hope to inspect the might-be or feasible improved ways of compilation and examination of English textbooks in junior high school.
