The aim of this research project is to investigate the main ideas and curriculum organization of life education in upcoming reformation of the 12-Year basic education curriculum. In order to clarify different accounts on life education, the research team first reviews crucial literature in foreign countries and Taiwan. Secondly, the ideas of life education in Taiwan’s educational policies are critically discussed. Lastly, the key competencies and curriculum organization of life education are proposed as the main result of the research project. Multiple methods are adopted in this research, including interdisciplinary anthropology, content analysis, foci-group discussion, panel discussion with other research groups, document analysis and questionnaire survey. As conclusion, the key competencies and the curriculum of life education for elementary, secondary and post-secondary education are presented with concrete suggestions for the integration life education into 12-Year Basic Education policy in Taiwan.
