One of the difficulties faced in the education of rural areas is the problem of brain drain. Helping students to stay in the locality after graduation depends on the cooperation of industry and the schools. Local industries must provide employment opportunities for young people and their future careers, schools also need to design courses related to local industry development, so that students can apply what they have learned at school, to participate in industrial internships during their schooling. In this way, the industry and the schools can work together and bring the promising development for the rural areas.
Based on the successful cases of regional revitalization in Taiwan, this study aimed to transfer the successful factors into the local schools and local industries which are the targets of this research. It will use documental analysis, expert interviews, focus group discussions, case studies, and action research as the research methods.
Meanwhile, the project will invite university professors and students to join in, to reuse the spare space at schools, to combine with local industry resources, in order to develop and design the suitable courses for the students. And it may create the opportunities of internships and help the development of local industries. Hope this research can become a viable model for the integration of schools and industries in rural areas.
