英文摘要 | This study aimed to understand the compulsory education system in Singapore. Through document analysis, this study reviewed the literatures related to Singapore compulsory education, mainly attempted to understand the following aspects: The background information of the development of Singapore compulsory education system, the current status of Singapore compulsory education system, and the advantages of compulsory education policy in Singapore. Finally, this study drew conclusions and explained the implications of Singapore compulsory education system for education in Taiwan. Conclusions are as follows: Characteristics Singapore compulsory education are: (1) Educational development is closely with the development of ecomony; (2) In response to the world situation, Singapore dares to take any reform of language curriculum and teaching; (3) Primary and secondary school curricula and teaching are based on holistic education; (4) Following the principle, Singapore offers flexible curriculum options; (5) Singapore is in the pursuit of high quality primary and secondary teacher education; (6) Information technology is integrated into the school curriculum to enhance learning. Recommendations are as follows: (1) We should establish a specific language policy and strengthen language education; (2) We should seek a balance of student development on the basis of the holistic education; (3) We should discover the strengths of students in the early time in order to offer the assistance of their career development; (4) Teacher education should be unified by some educational institute for providing the various tracks of teachers’ career development and the implementation of teacher evaluation; (5) We should integrate information technology resources to accelerate information technology education, and improve the quality of student learning. |
